Hayesy Daisy is One

Today I’m sharing photos and a recap of my daughter Hayes’ first birthday party! I can’t believe it’s already been a year since I gave birth to our second baby girl. She was the perfect addition to our family, and we can’t remember what life was like before her.

Inspired by Hayes’ nickname and happy go lucky personality, we went with a hippie/ flower child theme… with our own colorful spin! It was all about music and daisies and good vibes and everything in between. It was so happy and perfect, just like her.

I purchased these chairs and table a few years back for Hudson’s first birthday, and love using them to make a super fun kids table at every party I host. I kept it simple with a disposable table cloth, crochet table scarf, bud vases, and a little DIY hippie sign.

These adorable Meri Meri psychedelic plates and napkins were my inspiration for the party’s color scheme and decor. Theresa of Sweet T’s Cookies even made custom cookies to match. Everyone could tell the love and time Theresa put into making these cookies, they were literally works of art. Bonus: they were as delicious as they were pretty.

For Hayes’ smash cake, I ordered a naked cake from Publix’s bakery and added the fresh daisies and cake topper myself. I also ordered simple cupcakes from Publix, and then added the edible daisy toppers to tie everything together.

We served Chick-fil-a nuggets, fruit, cheese (a toddler food pyramid) to the kids, and finger foods including charcuterie boards, chicken salad croissants, a crudite platter, and some other yummy snacks for the adults.

I set up a swag table in our foyer for our little hippie friends, complete with flower crowns, rainbow peace sign necklaces, and groovy glasses. The kiddos loved picking out their own accessories, and checking themselves out in the mirror.

The highlight of Hayes’ Party was the music class led by Sing Along with Sarah. Mrs. Sarah entertained our guests singing and playing instruments to hits from the 1960’s including “My Girl” and “Here Comes the Sun”. Lots of laughing, dancing, and silliness ensued.

For party favors each little hippie got to make their own tie dye t-shirt. Each child got their own gloves, apron, and container with their name, shirt, and instructions. As you can imagine this was an all hands on deck activity with 8 toddlers, so these are the only photos I was able to take, but the kids LOVED it! Their shirts turned out adorable, and it was the perfect favor they can wear all summer.

After we sang Happy Birthday to Hayesy Daisy, big sister Hudson helped her blow out her candle. I fully anticipated Hayes diving face first into her smash cake- she’s never tried a food she didn’t like. She may look EXACTLY like her dad, but she got at least one thing from me- this girl can eat!

Of course she loved her cake! We had to take it away from her after a few minutes out of fear she would literally eat the whole thing- that’s my girl!

It was such a happy, magical day celebrating Hayes’ turning 1 with our closest friends and family.

Also, I really want to thank you all for coming by and reading my first blog post. Posts like these are a memory bank for the special times in our lives. In the digital age, and as busy mamas we often forget to take our thousands of photos off our cameras and phones. Whether it be blogging your photos, making albums, or old fashioned prints- I encourage you all to get your photos off the cloud and start preserving these sweet memories we call life.
