My beautiful friend, Chelcey and her husband Matt are expecting their second baby boy, Banks, in July. A few of our girlfriends began planning Chelcey’s baby shower months ago before the Covid19 pandemic rocked our world.
Once we realized that Baby Banks would probably be here before the pandemic ended, we knew we would have to get creative with how to celebrate our mama to be. We wanted Chelcey to know how loved her and baby Banks are, while still keeping her and her guests safe. We decided to have a virtual baby shower using Zoom, so that her family and friends from all over the country could join us in celebrating.
As the shower date approached, the pandemic curve had flattened and the shelter in place orders had been lifted. We asked Chelcey how she felt about a socially distant shower in her backyard, and she loved the idea of it.
We spaced chairs out 6 feet apart, and had balloons with the guests names’ on them to ensure everyone kept a safe distance apart. We invited guests to bring their own picnic dinners, and also served individually packaged cupcakes and champagne for desert.
We played a “Mom vs Dad” guessing game where both people celebrating in person and online could interact with each other. After the game Chelcey opened presents, while we all ooh’d and aww’d at the precious baby clothes and gifts.
After presents we had cupcakes and champagne, and just sat around chatting with one another. It was such a sweet, intimate celebration for Chelcey and Baby Banks.

How STUNNING is Chelcey? 9 months pregnant has never looked so good!
